The Face Shop | MasCream Intense Revitalizing Sheet Review

Hi and hello there!
We're back on track with K-brands as the next mask to be reviewed is the MasCream Intense Revitalizing sheet from The Face Shop.

I'm finally reviewing one of the masks I purchased from them a couple months ago. (Yay! 😄🙌) I was actually one of those who got excited when The Face Shop finally opened shop in the Philippines, especially in Cebu. I kept passing by it every time we would drop by SM City Cebu, but I never got the chance to look around the shop. And so a couple of months ago, I finally got the chance to drop by for a mini face mask haul and picked up a few ones I was curious about. Thus, having this as my first review of anything from the brand.

The Face Shop actually has two lines for this kind of concept with their sheet masks: MasCream sheet and the MasCream Intense sheet. Two other variants in the same category include the Soothing one which has Panthenol as the key ingredient and Moisturizing which contains Ceramide. For the variant that I will be reviewing, it is the MasCream Intense Revitalizing sheet which contains Madecassocide as its key ingredient. BTW, you can also check other details about this MasCream Intense mask line on their The Face Shop international website.

Where I was able to purchase: The Face Shop SM City Cebu branch
Price: Php 195.00 ($ 3.74)

Claims and Key Ingredients:

First off, this sheet mask line from The Face Shop is claimed to be formulated without parabens, to contain a moisturizing cream formula which helps with wrinkle care. This face mask sheet coated with Madecassoside helps improve and restore dry, rough skin. It also claims to be an 'intensely nourishing mask sheet with cream essence having the effect of an entire jar of cream'. You wouldn't even have the need to apply additional cream after using this mask. One of its main features also includes a 'no-dripping + clean finish'.

Madecassocide is an ingredient derived from the plant Centella asiatica (which is more commonly known as Centella) that works wonders in wound healing and being an anti-inflammatory agent for troubled skin. It has been one of the rising ingredients which is now common in a lot of skincare products. Aside from helping with sensitive skin, it also has properties that help target signs of aging. According to the Paula's Choice Skincare website, "studies also show that it (Madecassocide) is non-sensitizing and can help revitalize skin’s surface." which is definitely a fit to labeling this variant as the Revitalizing sheet.

First Impressions:
Madecassocide has been one of the ingredients that I'm curious about as I have been reading reviews on products which have this ingredient and give out good results to the skin. When I saw it on the tag on the shelf, I knew I definitely had to ask the store clerk which mask it was. Just based on the packaging, it personally looked a bit sophisticated and was somewhat like a high-end product (was kind of intimidating to grab off the shelf if you ask me). With the use of a strip of metallic gray and plain neutral colors (except for the labels which distinguish which variant is which; in red-Madecassocide, green-Panthenol, and blue-Ceramide), it was a bit difficult to identify which variant was which from the shelves. Another indicator on distinguishing the three variants is the upside down cream tub on the near upper right side of the packet with a label of the key ingredient.  I only visited The Face Shop for their Real Nature sheet masks, but as I mentioned, the tag on the shelf just caught my attention.

Product Review:

I just came from an afternoon out with my family where we left the house at around 2pm (when the sun is at its hottest + you know how Philippine summer weather works). Before ending the day, I felt like I definitely needed a skin energizer to have a good night's rest which is why I chose to mask with this MasCream Intense Revitalizing sheet mask.

Before opening the packet, I already had a lot of thoughts as to how a 'cream-infused mask' would look like since I was only used to sheet masks soaked in serum/essence. When I tore the packet, the mask had two parts(upper half and lower half) with two respective protective films. The mask is made of tencel material. As the mask was not that slippery, it wasn't difficult to unfold and apply. Personally, I love the material as it feels soft to the skin.

The scent of this mask is similar to one from a Creamsilk hair conditioner (tried finding other things I could relate to it with, but it's the only one I found). There's no particular variant of conditioner, but it does smell like one, especially when you squeeze out and apply too much of the product. It was not bothering for me and it was also long-lasting even though I took off the mask and did the rest of my skincare routine.

Mask before use

This one adhered pretty well to the skin, tightened, and even tugged the sides of my face. It also an okay fit which I had no complaints about. While donning it, I was confused at first since I really didn't know what to expect with a 'cream mask' Anyway, the cream consistency seemed lightweight even though there wasn't much excess amount but just right to infuse the mask with it. The longer time I was wearing it, it somewhat felt drying but later found out that it wasn't actually drying (would be because of the material).

Mask during use

Mask after use

After using the mask, I was relieved that it didn't irritate the skin. I was also shocked by how it didn't leave my skin dry like I thought it would. And as what other sheet masks might have as an after effect, this sheet mask didn't leave the skin feeling sticky after use. It even gave an after-mask glow and made my skin feel a bit less stressful-looking, but aside from that, there were no other visible after effects.

Pros:
↳ Not difficult to unfold and put on the face
↳ Scent is okay
↳ Adhered well to the face
↳ Fit is also okay
↳ Lightweight cream consistency
↳ Didn't irritate the skin
↳ Made skin look less stressful and a bit glowy

Cons:

↳ Price is a bit up there (I guess because it's a cream-infused mask?)
↳ Not much visible after effects

Go-Buy or No-Buy?
This is going to get a vague verdict from me since it was my first time using a 'cream mask'. I really didn't know what to expect, but I'm not completely saying that I'm not a fan of it either. It was a new experience, and definitely something I consider trying again. Maybe the next time I get to drop by The Face Shop, I will be picking up the Soothing Panthenol variant. Since I have combination skin, this mask might not have been the best match for me (as it's more recommended for dry and rough skin). On a plus point, this was still moisturizing after use and also made my skin feel relieved after a day of heading out in the Philippine summer heat. So, yes, it's a Go-Buy, but I'm looking forward to trying the other variants from this line. 😊

Hope you liked this review on the MasCream Intense Revitalizing sheet mask from The Face Shop!
