Naruko | Tea Tree Shine Control and Blemish Clear Mask Review

Hello and a Happy Wednesday, friends!
In this post, I will be reviewing the Tea Tree Shine Control and Blemish Clear Mask by Naruko.

To give you a brief background on the brand, first off, Naruko is a Taiwanese eco-friendly and cruelty-free skincare brand which got introduced in 2009. If you could observe from their product labels, they state that their products are made without parabens and artificial coloring.

One more interesting fact is that on their official website, the brand name 'NARUKO' actually stands for something!

N stands for Niuer who is the founder and the face of the company, himself, who also made the brand with the goal of letting people learn to love their selves more with the help of better skincare.
A stands for Affordable which means that they use the best ingredients in their skincare products for you to have at an affordable price. "Focus on quality more than cost."
R means Refine that reflects how the brand goes far and beyond in product and ingredient research to ensure that their products work as to how it claims to be.
U means Unique which is how their product ingredients are. Most ingredients in their products are not the common ones that you can see on the market which makes their brand also stand out from others.
K is for Kindness which can be seen with how they help not only international groups, but also local communities through engaging in fair trade for their natural organic ingredients and paying the brand's success forward to other supported causes. Additionally, 'kindness' is also reflective of how their products are environment-friendly and cruelty-free, from the product composition itself to the packaging.
O stands for Original which is how the brand, Naruko was built on: the values of being genuine, loving, and kind.

Isn't that amazing? I didn't actually think of that until I stumbled upon their brand story page and this interview from Fifty Shades of Snail to read up and know more about the brand that I just couldn't help but also share with you guys. 😊👍

Product Review:
Right off the bat, I like how simple and clean the packaging looks. It's easy to identify the sheet mask variant based on the color on the packaging. On the front, the main details can also be seen which include the variant, what it claims to do, and the amount that each packet contains. The font size just seems too small to spot from a distance, but the full color (both at the front and back) is already a good distinction. I am always a fan of cute-sy product packaging, but also I just like how straightforward the product presentation with this one is.

Upon opening, the scent had a mix of tea, charcoal, and something which seemed close to alcohol. It wasn't strong but I didn't find it as the best combination for me. The material was not difficult to unfold and was also not irritating to the skin which was good. The essence consistency was slightly watery which had a light green shade/tint. I'm not much a fan of watery essences since it's difficult to handle and might get a bit messy. It was also nice that there was a bit of excess essence to still apply on the neck, arms, elbows, and knees. This mask adhered well to the skin and had a good fit to the face since the material was easy to smooth out the face as well.

The scent still bothered me a bit while wearing it. I was even worried when I saw that it was a black mask since it reminded me of other charcoal masks which I didn't have many good experiences with (which also makes me not really a fan of black charcoal masks). However, even though I mentioned that there was only a bit of excess essence, I was surprised that after 10 minutes, the mask was still soaked with it which made me personally think that it is a good sheet mask material. After use, there was no special after effect on my face, aside from the hydrated and glowy look. The charcoal-ly scent also lingered after wear.

The next day, I was surprised to see that my face didn't appear oily and also didn't break out when I woke up, compared to other days (since I didn't expect that it would make any further difference after wearing it the previous night, but yay!). 😄👍

Pros:
→ Price is okay
→ Simple and straightforward packaging
→ Mask material is good; not irritating; easy to unfold
→ Contains excess essence to apply on neck, arms, etc.
→ Doesn't dry out easily
→ Didn't break me out and look oily the next day

Cons:
→ Not much a fan of the scent

Go-Buy or No-Buy?
I would add this mask to my Go-Buy list. 😊 That is because I actually found this to be okay during and after wear. The mask material was not difficult to manage and it was also good to have that excess essence to put on the arms and neck. My only issue was the scent which I'm not much a fan of, but I might be able to look over since it's only a mild one (but still a heads-up for those sensitive to scents). I've read other reviews on this variant saying that it didn't work for them, but personally, I like the effect that I saw the next day from wearing this mask. There were no immediate effects observed after wear, but the next morning, it did seem to have an effect on adjusting my excessive oil production and also seemed to calm a few spots around my chin and jaw area. I'm getting hopeful with this one that maybe if I get to use this more regularly, this shows more effects on my blemishes and with the oily zones on my face, as well.

That is my review on the Naruko Tea Tree Shine Control and Blemish Clear Mask!
Thanks and I hope you enjoyed reading it! 💖
