Hello hello everyone!
This time, I will be reviewing the Missing Pore Hydrogel Mask by Faith in Face. After trying out two other variants of their hydrogel masks, I'm part excited and part nervous about trying out this last one I have from the stash. I guess excited and nervous are the main feels because I'm expecting to have a different experience from the previous two that I've already tried. What I'm excited about in this variant is also that it focuses on Pore Tightening (including Sebum Control and Pore Care as stated on the pack) which is one of the main things I look for when buying my face masks (esp. with my efforts in trying to balance my Combination skin type 😥).

Claims, Functions, and Key Ingredients:
This face mask claims to have three steps in tightening the pores (additionally claiming that it does 'until it becomes invisible') which involves its key ingredients:
Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract for sebum control
↝This ingredient helps in conditioning the skin which due to its cooling and refreshing sensation is usually found common in a lot of mouthwashes, breath fresheners, skin care, and bath products. Other benefits from this ingredient are that it controls acne and keeps the growth of different bacteria and certain types of fungus. It is also known to help in clearing the acne from the roots through controlling excess oil secretion and preventing clogged pores.
Salicylic Acid for pore care
↝For this one, a lot of you might already be aware of this name since it's also a common name in the skincare game. This ingredient is a beta hydroxy acid (or BHA) which aids in fighting pimples. I'm not a skincare expert btw who would be able to deeply break this down, but its structure is said to be soluble for the skin to absorb it better and work its magic to the pores. As cited from Randy Schueller, a cosmetic chemist, by an article in Allure, "once it has penetrated the skin, the acid part of the molecule can dissolve some of the intercellular 'glue' that holds skin cells together". This statement aids in its function to help in pore tightening while also deep cleaning your pores.
Hamamelis Virginiana Extract to clarify pores
↝This ingredient (which is also known as Witch Hazel) helps to enhance the appearance of dry or damaged skin as well as restore the suppleness of skin. Aside from that, it is also an anti-inflammatory agent which aids in soothing the skin. Its high tannin content clarifies and sensitizes the skin as tannin is an antioxidant.
For this mask, the checkpoint that it has is that when the hydrogel material becomes thinner, your pores will diminish. So, when trying out this mask, be sure to keep that in mind! 😉👍

Instructions and Ingredients list:

Price: Php 169.00
First Impressions:
I found the front design of the packaging to be cute (as I did with the other masks from this brand). Since the variant is called Missing Pore, the photo showed a detective with a magnifying glass trying to look for the pore. I think that was really witty. Though the line stated the detective saying, 'Oh, I found it!' (which seemed sort of contradictory right? or is it just me haha), it must be because she had the need to use a magnifying glass just to spot the pores. Anyway, it was witty and I love detective, crime, and mystery genres in books, drama series, and movies; so, the packaging was a cute plus for me.
I previously mentioned that I had 50/50 expectations for this last mask since I had other variants to compare to (which weren't really didn't end up in my Go-Buy list). As soon as I opened the packaging, I was happy to find that it had more essence in it compared to the other 2 hydrogel masks I've tried. You can see that in the photo below where you can still spot the bubbles in between the folded mask. I was relieved this time around.
Product Review:
Now over to the review proper. This one also came in its upper and lower parts with its respective protective films for easy unfolding. I still encountered the same challenge in unfolding especially when I was taking the mask out of the packaging, but maybe that's just my case with hydrogel masks. As I mentioned, this mask had more essence compared to the other 2 hydrogel masks which had the material just feel slippery, but didn't feel as hydrating. Despite the more essence amount, the mask hugged well to the face. So, with that, I was already a fan. At the start of the application, both halves of the mask slowly started to slide down my face, but I think that's because of the fact that this one had more essence in the pack which made me have to adjust it a lot at the beginning. While using it, the mask adhered well to the face and didn't feel drying or whatsoever. With the essence amount, there was still more to put on the neck and even the sides of my face (which the mask didn't get to reach STILL 😔). As per claim, the skin indeed felt and became tighter as mask became thinner. I unfortunately didn't get to observe this feature/checkpoint well when using the other 2 since it wasn't that much comfortable wearing them.
The scent of this variant was similar to the Light Effect Hydrogel Mask which sort of resembled a powdery vintage cosmetic product. It was tolerable since it wasn't that strong to the nose and I somewhat already got used to the smell from the previous masks. 😅
After using the mask, the usual 'after mask' glow was seen. It left a strong scent as I took off the mask, but it faded away in a short period of time so it wasn't much of an issue. The mask was also cooling to the skin which additionally made it feel tight and bouncy.
So, difficulties aside handling the mask, I loved that it felt hydrating and tight to skin. Pores were still noticeable, but the skin felt definitely tighter.
In the next day, my face didn't get oily when I woke up which made me have sort of a crazy and unexpected ''I woke up like this" moment. I was a happy kid with this one. It gave my skin a bright glow. My pores didn't have a reduced appearance the next day, but I was able to notice flatter bumps on my face. These days, I rarely get to include any spot treatment in my skincare routine so it made me happy that I wasn't very oily when I woke up, compared to other days when I used the other masks. In summary, I was satisfied.
Pros:
→ Adhered well to the face
→ More essence amount
→Tighter skin after use
→ Was able to observe the checkpoint (thinner hydrogel : tighter skin, lesser pores)
→ Compliments well with a good regular skincare routine
→ Didn't make me feel and look oily the next day
Cons:
→ Not a great fit on the sides of my face
→ Still difficult to handle; take out of the packaging
Go-Buy or No-Buy?
For this mask, it's a Go-Buy for me! I love this variant of hydrogel mask as it was a happy, somewhat 'Eureka' experience. Every second of wearing this mask was mostly pleasant which made it work for me. I could say that this was a good complement to my usual skincare routine. It was definitely a plus from the experience of using it and the after use effects. I'm curious as to how it would show more effects after a few more uses. Though because of the price, I might not opt for it as a regular use (maybe more for a 'pampering moment') which made it one of my cons, additional to the fit on my face. However because of how I loved using it, I would consider the price for this variant slightly more reasonable for a hydrogel mask. So for those who look for trying a good skin-hugging, pore-tightening hydrogel mask, this would be in one of my recos. 💖💖💖
Anyways, this is the last one out of the 4 masks that I purchased from Faith in Face. As the reviews have been good with all 4 of them (summarized into 2 for a Go-Buy while the other 2 are for a No-Buy), generally, I find the masks from this brand which focus on soothing and calming properties to be the ones that match with me the most. Along with the start of my writing on reviews (esp. face masks), trying masks with different materials than what I commonly see in accessible physical stores within the locale has definitely got me curious and interested with the new experience, making me conclude that I enjoyed trying out these masks overall. With that said, I'm also looking forward to try the other remaining variants in this brand soon!
