1-Mask-A-Day Challenge (Part II)

(initially was to be posted on my previous blog 'Colors up in the sky')

Hey everyone!

Previously, face masks from Beauty Buffet, Jayjun Cosmetic, and Purederm were reviewed. In this post, I will be sharing about the second part from the 1-Mask-A-Day Challenge. This time, face masks are from SNP, COSRX, and Pretty Secret. You can read about the first part here.

DAY 4

SNP The Sound of Your Heart Buuk Soothing Mask (음의 소리 욱 수딩 마스크팩; 25ml

"Soothing and vital mask that cares smooth skin by filling a soothing energy to the irritated skin and controlling the excessive sebum."

Active Ingredients:

Green Tea Extract, Licorice Extract, Coconut Water, and other plant extracts - It soothes tired skin from external stimuli and controls the sebum to make it calmer and cleaner.

This mask is for Php 129.00. Other variants available from this brand are Sensation Wrinkle Mask, Aebongi Aqua Mask, and Joseok Brightening Mask.

PROS:

→ The face mask had a cute design (webtoon characters from 'The Sound of Your Heart'😄).
→ The smell was okay.
→ It also stuck well to the face.
→ There was a lot of gel-type essence in the pack. 👍
→ It felt like there was a thin film on top of my face after use (extra layer of moisture, i suppose?).

CONS:

→ The fit to the face slightly wasn't that good, but it was just okay.

Will I purchase again? Sure, why not? The characters are just cute and concepts like this in skincare products give out good vibes while making you feel relaxed at the same time.

DAY 5

Pretty Secret Charcoal Black Detox Mask

Active Ingredients:
Charcoal Powder - Unclog deep pores and purify skin toxins

Main functions of this mask include Moisturizing, Pore Refining, and Tightening. This mask is sold for Php 69.00. Other variants available from this brand are Honey, Ginseng, Black Pearl, and Gold Collagen.

PROS:
→ Personally, the smell was okay at first use. I sort of got used to using charcoal face masks having that distinct 'charcoal-y' scent.
→ The mask fit well on the face; didn't fall off easily.

CONS:
→ Around the 5-minute mark, the mask started to sting on my face.
→ After use, the smell of charcoal powder (and maybe somewhat like alcohol?) started to become more apparent.
→ No effects were really observed after use.

Will I purchase again? Maybe not anymore. The stinging and the gradually increasing strong scent of mixed alcohol did it for me. I might still be willing to try the other variants, but no second tries for this one.

DAY 6

COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Kit (21ml)

Active Ingredients:
(1) COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser - Formulated with purifying botanical ingredients, works to soothe, refresh, and soften the skin.
(2) COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad - Pre-soaked in betaine salicylate (BHA) and willow bark water to chemically exfoliate without drying out your skin; calms and soothes the skin; dissolve oil and dead skin cells; control breakouts.
(3) COSRX Holy Moly Snail Mask - Contains snail mucin to help lock in moisture and supply a layer of nourishing formula.

There are three steps to this kit which includes: (1) COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, (2) COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad, and (3) COSRX Holy Moly Snail Mask. The products in the 3-step kit are mini samples of COSRX's trending skincare products. This mask kit retails at Php 239.00. The other variant available from this brand is the One Step Moisture Up Kit.

PROS:
→ For the facial cleanser, I like how it is not so strong on the skin; foams really well.
→ The pimple pad contains a lot of the pre-soaked extracts that felt moisturizing and cleansing to the skin.
→ The mask had a good fit to the face; also had a lot of essence; had a light and pleasant fragrance.
→ It did not fall off easily.

CONS:
→ The gel cleanser just had a slight distinct smell which I couldn't point out (somewhat soapy? but it was my first time using a product from COSRX, so that must've been just me 😂).

Will I purchase again? Actually, yes. I feel like I wasn't able to use it to its fullest potential as it was included in the 1-Mask-A-Day Challenge along with a lot of other skincare products in the mix. It is indeed the most expensive among the 7 masks, so that might be the drawback. However, I think it's a good occasional 'pamper-thyself' product.

DAY 7

SNP Animal Panda Whitening Mask

"Whitening mask to restore dull and rough skin with brightening energy delivering luminosity and softness."

Active Ingredients:

Coconut Water, Mulberry Root Extract, Niacinamide - To increase moisturizing power and help maintaining clear and vibrant skin; contains skin whitening properties

This mask retails at Php 99.00. Other variants available from this brand are Animal Dragon Soothing Mask, Animal Otter Aqua Mask, and the Animal Tiger Wrinkle Mask.

PROS:
→ The mask had a cute and colorful panda design. Other masks would usually come in either white or black. So, it was an adorable concept. 😊
→ Since there is a lot of gel-type essence in the pack, the mask adheres well to the face.
→After use, minimized pores, slightly tighter skin, and lightened skin tone was observed.

CONS:
→ Sadly, the mask was not really a good fit on the face.
→ It also had some sort of alcoholic smell to it.

Will I purchase again? For the cute and colorful concept, I guess the face masks from this line by SNP would be something nice to repurchase. The amount of essence it has in the pack would also be one thing I find to be worth buying again. I'm always up for those kinds of masks. Basing on the observations after use, it seemed to be okay on the moisturizing and nourishing end.

Final thoughts on doing the 1-Mask-A-Day Challenge:
This 1-Mask-A-Day thing was just something I thought I'd try, and I decided to focus on getting face masks that were more about their moisturizing, soothing, and detoxifying properties (as I have a Combination Skin Type). Over all, it was a really exciting week, looking forward to pampering up with a good face mask at the end of each day. The other exciting part was also that the masks included in the haul were ones that I haven't tried before, so it was also a nice experience to explore products that I might like and would fit with what my skin needs. I was like a kid left in a candy store, getting really amazed with all the different features each mask had (even with the ones that had 3-step applications). It was also great that most of the masks were to my liking and didn't cause irritations to my skin. As the prices of the face masks also varied, I was glad to see that good skin care products don't really have to always be on the expensive end of the price range. Good deals are always out there. I guess prior research and understanding product ingredients also really did pay off. 😅 That stuff's very important, guys. It definitely helps a lot!

'Til the next post,
